Rate: $500.00 per person, not including accommodations, transportation, and meals.

Fitness level: Moderately easy. Clients should be able to walk up to two miles on a sandy beach.

Join professional photographer Emily Carter ~ Nature as Art on the soft sands of Nickerson Beach located on Long Island, New York. This public beach is home to an active bird rookery that includes Common terns, least terns, Black skimmers, American Oystercatchers and other shorebirds.

The rate of $500.00 per person includes:

o   Pre-workshop Zoom orientation and coaching (will be recorded.)

o   Four in-field photography coaching sessions. Two half-days and one full day.

o   Post-workshop Zoom image review (date within two weeks of workshop end.)

This rate does not include transportation, accommodations, and meals.

o   Essential elements of bird photography.

o   Understanding and seeing light and how it affects your subject.

o   Birds in flight photography techniques.

o   Capturing behaviors and telling a story with your images.

o   Using low light for creative blurs with bird photography. 

ITINERARY

Note 1: The actual photo departure times be selected on-site based on lighting conditions and subject access.

Note 2: Transportation during the workshop will be participant car-share. 

Monday, July 17 – Depart hotels at 5:00 p.m. for afternoon field shoot.

Tuesday, July 18 – Depart hotels at 4:00 a.m. for sunrise field shoot. Breakfast stop following, the midday break. Depart hotels at 5:00 p.m. for afternoon field shoot. Return after sunset.

Wednesday, July 19 - Depart hotels at 4:00 a.m. for sunrise field shoot. Breakfast stop following and return to hotels for check out and workshop end.

Sunrise is at 5:06 a.m. and Sunset is at 8:23 p.m

CAMERA GEAR ~ What to Bring 

·       Digital camera (second body if available) with extra batteries and memory cards.

·       Tripod with gimbal head.

·       Lenses include:

o   100-400mm or 100-500mm lens for wildlife, close up photography

·       Laptop with external hard drive and memory card readers for on-site image backup.

WEATHER & CLOTHING

Summer days in Nickerson Beach are warm and balmy. Wearing lightweight pants are helpful for laying down in the sand, along with a long-sleeve shirt. Bring several shirts to change into. Pack rain gear just in case, including a rain sleeve for your camera kit.

CANCELLATION POLICY 

Purchasing travel insurance is highly recommended as no refund will be offered due to cancellations for any reason. This insurance must be purchased the same day you make payment for this workshop. Reimbursement will be considered if your spot in the workshop is filled by another participant. Should Emily Carter ~ Nature as Art need to cancel this workshop for any reason, then a full refund will be issued. 

COVID POLICY 

If you have been feeling sick or have been exposed to someone in your household who is feeling sick or has tested positive for COVID-19 within five days of the beginning of the workshop, please stay home. You should evaluate your own risks when determining whether to participate.  By attending this event and signing the Liability Release form, you acknowledge and agree that you assume these inherent risks associated with your attendance related to COVID related illness.
